  1. Oppose the Graham-Cassidy Bill

Call your Senators to oppose the Graham-Cassidy bill that will repeal and replace the ACA by converting ACA funding to state block grants.  It would reduce federal funding for expanded coverage while eliminating the individual mandate and keeping the pre-existing conditions requirement.  This will result in even higher premiums and reduce support for lower-income participants.  Per the Senate parliamentarian, after September 30 the Senate has to have 60, rather than 51, votes to pass any healthcare reform legislation so there is an intense time-crunch at play.

  1. Support steps to stabilize the ACA immediately

There are only days left before insurance companies set their rates for next year.  Without action from Congress, these rates will be much higher than necessary.  Call your representative to advocate for bipartisan efforts NOW to stabilize the individual marketplace and end uncertainty that is causing insurance companies to leave markets and raise rates.  There are steps Congress can take now to make healthcare more affordable and accessible in 2018.

  1. DACA:  Pass a legislative solution to protect the Dreamers

The Trump Administration announced it is rescinding the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program that grants protected status to undocumented immigrant children brought into the US by parents or other adults.

Call your Senators and Representative to urge them to move swiftly to pass the DREAM Act of 2017 (Senate 1615 and House 3440) and to express your support for a bipartisan approach to protect DREAMers.
