6:30 – 8:30 PM
After a long campaign season, and before another one begins, let’s gather to celebrate the hard work of women who have recently been elected to office. Not only will we celebrate our most recently elected officials, but we will recognize all women who have given their time in elected office. So please join Charlotte Women’s March, the newly formed Queens of Charlotte Mecklenburg, The League of Women Voters of Charlotte Mecklenburg, and National Coalition of 100 Black Women Inc., Queen City Metropolitan Chapter for our Third Annual Reception to Celebrate Women Elected to Office.
Emcee: Connie Green-Johnson, President of Democratic Women of Mecklenburg County
Special introductory remarks: Celia Rivenbark, the New York Times best-selling author of seven Southern humor books and a weekly political humor column that appears in the Charlotte Observer.
Keynote Speaker: Lyric Thompson, Director of Policy and Advocacy at the International Center for Research on Women (ICRW) in Washington DC and a leading national advocate for women.
A special award, The Dovey Johnson Roundtree Heroine Award, will be presented to Commissioner Ella Scarborough, for her time and commitment to making Charlotte a better place to live for all.
Heavy hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar will be provided.
