Why Gina Marches

As the anniversary of the Women’s March approaches, I’ve been asked by several people why I choose to March. My answer is always; how can YOU not march? How do we not have millions of people on the streets on a regular basis fighting for what we hold to be American values? Have we become a country of complicit citizens? I choose not to believe this, and This is WHY I MARCH.

This year I will again March for Human rights; Women’s rights; and for the poor, the needy and our disenfranchised citizens who have been left behind.

I ask friends/family if they are voting on midterm elections, holding their politicians accountable, or marching to protest the current injustices we now see on a daily basis. Unfortunately, the answer is often the same; good intentions but too busy or weather too cold. Complaining on social media is all good and well, but the real work is becoming an active citizen. So, if you are not volunteering or donating money to help elect a politician who will put country over party and who is running for office to look out for their constituents; you are not calling your politicians on a regular basis to hold them accountable; and you are not Marching on the streets to oppose this administration, then, don’t complain about Trump, the GOP, and the current political climate. It is up to us, regular citizens to stop this madness because no one else is going to do it for us. So, ask yourself what you have done this week to resist the current political climate. If you say “NOTHING”, history will not remember YOU kindly, and the World is watching. And if you think it takes too much effort to do something NOW, just imagine explaining to your kids in 8 years how you stood by watching whilst our country went down in flames. Today is the best time to teach/show your kids what it means to be a real citizen, a real patriot. “Become the change you want to see in the World” and start with your own backyard.

Tell us why YOU March!!  Come and join the Charlotte Women’s March on January 20, 2018.
