Monday, January 22nd will be the 45th anniversary of the Supreme Court’s decision in Roe v. Wade. Anti-abortion groups have announced plans to conduct their annual “ Memorial” of what they call the “infamous decision” and to call for a “public acknowledgment of our nation, city, and church’s guilt.”
The right to safe and legal abortion seems more threatened now than at any other time since Roe v. Wade was decided. We feel strongly that women’s freedom requires that we have the full right to control our bodily autonomy, and this includes access to abortion services.
In the current political environment, we feel that it is crucial for women to gather to respond to this statement and to demonstrate that Charlotte is pro-choice!
