NC Courts Under Attack

ProgressNC

Think our judges should be fair, independent, and removed from politics? Yeah, so do a vast majority of North Carolinians.

Unfortunately, politicians in Raleigh think differently. Top state lawmakers are trying to gain partisan control over the courts and rig the system in their favor. First, they canceled primary elections for judges, and now the politicians are planning to return in January 2018 to cancel judicial elections altogether and simply appoint their political friends to fill the bench and tilt the scales of justice in their favor. It’s outrageous. Learn more here.

Right now, members of the N.C. General Assembly are home in their districts for the holidays. And we have a chance to tell them directly to oppose this brazen scheme to rig the justice system for partisan control.

RSVP NOW and Join us Tuesday, December 12, at 6:30 p.m.
at the Midwood Cultural Center Auditorium (1817 Central Ave #215, Charlotte, NC)

During the 90-minute town hall, hosted by NC Voters for Clean Elections (NCVCE), Democracy North Carolina, the NAACP and ProgressNC, local state lawmakers and other experts are invited to address our community’s concerns. And we will provide the latest information and a plan to help you fight to protect fair courts.

We hope you can make it.  Our state’s independent courts are under attack. It’s time to fight back.

Sincerely,
Gerrick Brenner
Executive Director, Progress NC Action
