Participate in the Elections Process

Participate in the Elections Process – Sign Up to Be a Voting Precinct Worker.

The Mecklenburg County Board of Elections is looking for additional people to work at the voting precincts in non-partisan positions during the upcoming elections.

Dates are as follows:

  • Primary Election on Tuesday, September 12th (and any needed primary runoff) and
  • General Election on Tuesday, November 7th.

You must be a registered voter in Mecklenburg County to qualify and be willing to work all day on election days (for most positions).  Political party officials, including local precinct party officers, are not eligible. A typing test is a prerequisite for the provisional transfer position (the person who runs the laptop in each precinct).   If selected, there are mandatory training classes for 2-3 hours (depending on the position) at the Valerie C. Woodward County Center, 3205 Freedom Drive (near I-85).

If you are interested, please contact Carolyn Mints at Carolyn.Mints@mecklenburgcountync.gov   or call her at (980) 314-0625.

If you do not live in Mecklenburg County, you can contact the Board of Elections in your county of residence to volunteer for election worker positions.
