Education committee update
We are beginning to see movement regarding education on the national front. The main sections of proposed HR 610 would repeal the Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015 and would take away from the Department of Education any role except disbursement of block grants to states. These grants would be turned into vouchers to pay for private or religious schools or homeschooling.
Current actions:
The Committee is researching whether to get involved with RoleModels University (a group whose goal is to help kids stay in school, build leaders, and break generational poverty cycles).
Next step:
The group is trying to set up a meeting for the 1st week in April.
