Legislative Actions week of Feb. 13

Hopefully the weekend’s warm weather has re-energized all of us!

Here’s what is in our craw for this week. Please pardon any unwieldy formatting – we’re still learning the system!

Monday:           Mnuchin Confirmation Day

While we will not stop the confirmation of Steven Mnuchin as our Treasury Secretary, let’s let Burr and Tillis know that we

  •   Are NOT pleased
  •      Will be closely monitoring his policies to sound the alarm if they resemble what led us to the Great Recession.
Call Burr:
DC:   202-224-3154
Winston-Salem:   800-685-8916 or 336-631-5125
Call Tillis:
DC:   202-224-6342
Charlotte:   704-509-9087

Tuesday:           Valentine’s Day of Action Charlotte:  Save the ACA

Meet Fellow Patriots at Noon @ 9300 Harris Corners Parkway, Charlotte, NC  28269-3789 (Thom Tillis’s Office) .

If you cannot appear in person, call both Tillis and Burr that you oppose any repeal of the ACA and instead support making improvements/changes to the current legislation.

Wednesday, Thursday & Friday:         Thom Tillis is part of bi-partisan group advocating for comprehensive immigration reform.

From the Charlotte Observer:

He told The Wall Street Journal recently that his plan would aim to tighten border security and toughen enforcement of immigration laws – goals often cited by Republicans — while providing some kind of protective legal status for the roughly 11 million immigrants in the U.S. illegally, a Democratic priority.

All three days:

Call Tillis and tell him that you support his bi-partisan efforts on comprehensive immigration reform and that you oppose the executive-order travel ban.

Call Burr and tell him that you oppose the travel ban and hope he will support bi-partisan efforts for comprehensive immigration reform

Extra Credit:   New Jersey Representative Bill Pascrell, Jr. sent a letter to chair of House Ways & Means Committee requesting that Trump’s tax returns be opened to check for conflict of interest.

It can only help to thank and encourage him.  His numbers are

DC:   202-225-5751

NJ:   201-935-2248

Finally:   all REAL teams have a name. If you have an idea, please send it along to us. (Frances was justifiably not keen on Jannica’s “Legislative Watch-      Pussies”.) Please come up with something better and email it to us!

We are still waiting to hear back from a few places about possible meeting sites for the next gathering of our group as well as outreach efforts made to both our NC and National elected officials.
